Playground Games has set a PlayStation 5 release date for Forza Horizon 6. In a post on the official Forza website dated October 8, the studio said the Standard and Deluxe Editions launch on PS5 on January 26, 2027, and that PS5 pre-orders are now open on the PlayStation Store.
What was announced
- Release dates: Standard and Deluxe Edition owners can play from January 26, 2027. The Premium Edition includes early access that begins five days sooner, on January 21.
- Who is making it: the PS5 port comes from Panic Button, the studio that handled last year’s PS5 release of Forza Horizon 5, working with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios.
- Physical copies: a disc version will be sold for PS5 at participating retailers.
- Performance: the PS5 pre-order trailer was recorded on a standard PS5 in the Quality mode, which targets 4K at 30FPS. A Performance mode running at 60FPS is also planned.
- Pre-order bonus: every PS5 pre-order adds a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 to the player’s garage once the prologue is finished.
- Cross-play: PS5 players can race alongside people who own the game on Xbox or Steam, and progress carries between platforms via cross-save. Player-made content is shared across platforms too, including EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages and Estates, Liveries and Tuning Setups.
First expansion and a free update
The post also confirms that Forza Horizon 6’s first Premium Expansion will arrive on all platforms on January 21, 2027, the same day PS5 early access opens. It is included at no extra charge in the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle, and it can also be bought on its own. A free content update for every player is planned around the PS5 launch and the expansion, with details to follow closer to release.
The Premium Edition listing names a second expansion as well, but gives it no date beyond “a later date.”
What we don’t know yet
Playground Games has not shared what the first expansion contains or what the free update adds. The announcement also does not list PS5 prices for the three editions.
