SEGA has laid out its second year of content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. In a Year Two Showcase wrap-up posted to the game’s Steam page on October 9 (UTC), the publisher said Year Two goes live on November 3, 2026. The plan was first presented during the game’s World Championship Finals.
New modes and systems on day one
- Duel Mode: a new one-on-one race type in which players can see their rival’s items, gadgets and position. A Duel Boost gauge fills over time, faster when items are used, and can be spent on big bursts of speed. It comes in four forms: Rival Duel (offline, against CPU rivals, with rewards that include a special Machine), Duel Match (Free Match) for online matchmaking, Duel Match (Best-of-10) as limited-time online events with Duel Class ranks and Medal rewards, and Friend Match with custom Race Rules, Items and CrossWorlds.
- Gadgets: a new Grand Master Plate adds a seventh “Super Slot” that strengthens whichever 1-slot gadget is placed in it, and 15 new gadgets arrive on day one.
- CPU racers: characters added after launch, both free and paid, will now appear as CPU opponents online and offline.
Free characters and Festivals
The first three free additions are Bayonetta, who arrives on November 3 and is unlocked through Rival Duel matches; a McLaren Racing machine, a Speed-type car in McLaren’s Papaya and Anthracite colours driven by Sonic, due later in November; and Aigis, whom SEGA introduces as a member of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, racing an Acceleration-type machine called the Palladion Dressy in early 2027. Each free drop will be followed by a themed, limited-time Festival. New Festivals now run for ten days, while older favourites return for shorter windows.
Season Pass Two lineup
SEGA lists six premium DLC packs:
- Godzilla Pack (November 3, 2026): the Godzilla Escape course and three machines, the Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe and Mothra Surf.
- EVANGELION Pack (January 2027): the Tokyo-III course, racers Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley, and the EVA-01, EVA-00 and EVA-02 machines.
- Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack (Q2 2027): a Virtual Sanrio Puroland course, Hello Kitty and Kuromi as racers, and one machine for each. SEGA notes the course will not be playable in Mirror Mode and the two machines cannot have their parts customised.
- SEGALAND Pack (Q3 2027): a SEGALAND course plus After Burner, OutRun and Super Megalo machines.
- Midgar Pack (working title, Q3 2027): one course, two racers and one machine.
- Reload Revival Royal Pack from the Persona series (Q4 2027): one course, two racers and two machines.
Every pack also adds Jukebox tracks and sounds, and all except the Godzilla and SEGALAND packs include character emotes. Season Pass Two buyers also get a SEGA Controllers Decal Pack, available from October 9, and a SEGA Consoles Pack with Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast-themed machines from November 3. Players who own both Season Pass One and Season Pass Two receive Super Shadow and the Super Dark Flare machine on November 3.
Price changes and new editions
- The Standard Edition drops permanently from $69.99 to $39.99, and the Digital Deluxe Edition from $89.99 to $59.99, effective immediately.
- Season Pass Two is on sale now for $29.99 on every platform the game is available on.
- A new Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition ($59.99) bundles the Standard Edition with Season Pass Two. SEGA warns existing owners not to buy it, since it would give them a second copy of the base game.
- A physical Year One Edition ($59.99, select retailers) pairs the Standard Edition with Season Pass One and adds a 35th Anniversary reversible cover sheet and logo patch.
What we don’t know yet
SEGA has not revealed the course, racers or machines for the Midgar and Persona packs, and it has not given exact days for packs scheduled by quarter. Prices are listed in US dollars only.
