Torchlight: Infinite has a new season. According to the game’s official announcement on Steam, Tartarus began on October 16 and is built around a prison break across the Netherrealm.
The seasonal mechanic: running a prison
As the Warden of Tartarus, players chase down escaped inmates and collect their Prisoner Nameplates, then manage the prison as they see fit for a 20-day sentence. Inmates can be set against one another in a pecking order of Mammoth, Lion, Wolf and Colossal Rat, and feeding the winners eventually produces Chromatic Prisoners. Torture Instruments and random Prison Incidents are meant to keep each patrol from playing out the same way.
Once the 20 days are over, a riot starts. Players then fight the beasts in the central prison complex for Warden’s Caches.
Youga’s new Hero Trait
Spacetime Witness Youga gets a new Hero Trait, The Ultimate One. Instead of calling alternate versions of himself into battle, this take on the character hunts them and absorbs their power. Players build him around a Clockwork Core and can mix three development paths.
Followers
A new progression system adds Followers: allies recruited with Letters of Introduction from the interrogation room. Each Follower has exclusive Tartarus Skills, and every skill that drops comes with random Support Skills; higher-ranked Followers can equip more of them. Ultimate Followers can be recruited as well.
